To improve public health through promotion of healthy behaviours among young people

Vision/Strategic Goal
To develop and supply to educational or other settings, innovative, theoretically based interventions that:
i Are based in sound behaviour theory e.g. social cognitive theory or the theory of planned behaviour
ii Use relevant peer educational practice e.g. peer to peer learning and peer educators
iii Can be effectively delivered by a relevant professional(s)
without need for extensive training
by use of supporting ‘manualisation’ of intervention and training with ICT support
iv Can be applied where relevant to:
whole populations e.g.high risk groups e.g children in care or out of school; to patient groups e.g. with diabetes or weight problems
v Are cost effective in health terms and beneficial in social/emotional outcomes
