Relationship skills: RAP

Respect and Protect

A drama-based Relationships and Sex Education Project

By and for young people who have had a disrupted education.

Run in such settings as Pupil Referral Units, Pupil inclusion Units and Young Mothers Units, the RAP project uses a drama-based and peer-led approach to provide SRE to young people at risk of social exclusion.

The majority of RAP peer educators have themselves experienced major disruptions in their education.

Consisting of 10 carefully structured and partially scripted sessions, the learners are invited to examine the sexual health and relational needs of young people through dramatic conventions and participatory learning methods.

More positive self-beliefs are gradually fostered through the programme, with learners becoming empowered to discuss, suggest and ultimately perform effective solutions to challenging situations.
